EDITORIAL POLICY

How we research and write Every article on NightShiftWell starts from a real question shift workers ask — often ones Daniel has personally dealt with. We research using primary sources: peer-reviewed studies (via PubMed), government health agencies (CDC, NIOSH, NIH), and established medical institutions (e.g., Mayo Clinic, Sleep Foundation, American Academy of Sleep Medicine). We do not source health claims from other blogs or unsourced articles.

Who writes NightShiftWell?

NightShiftWell is founded and written by Daniel Carter, who spent 8–12 years working night and rotating shifts in logistics and warehouse operations. Daniel is not a medical professional — his role is research, writing, and drawing on direct shift-work experience.

Medical review

Articles touching on health claims — sleep, mental health, nutrition, or anything that could inform a medical decision — are reviewed by a qualified, licensed healthcare professional before publishing.

Sourcing standards

  • We link directly to the original study, agency, or institution — not to a secondary source that cited it.
  • We do not recommend specific medication dosages. Where a topic involves medication or supplements (e.g., melatonin), we describe what research has studied and direct readers to talk with a doctor or pharmacist about their personal situation.
  • We disclose affiliate relationships clearly on any page containing affiliate links.

Updates and corrections Health and sleep science evolves. We review and update our core health content on a 6–12 month cycle, and every article displays a “Last updated” date. If you spot an error or outdated claim, contact us at hello@nightshiftwell.com — we take corrections seriously and will update promptly.

What we won’t publish We don’t publish diagnostic tools, specific treatment protocols, or content implying we can replace a doctor, nurse practitioner, or other licensed provider. NightShiftWell is educational — always intended to support a conversation with a healthcare professional, not replace one.
