ABOUT

NightShiftWell was created for people who live life on the opposite clock — nurses, warehouse and factory workers, truck drivers, first responders, security staff, and anyone else whose job runs through the night.

Most health and sleep advice online is written for people who sleep at night and are awake during the day. That advice often doesn’t work — or doesn’t apply at all — when your “morning” starts at 7pm and your bedroom needs to feel like midnight at noon. NightShiftWell exists to close that gap: practical, honestly-sourced guidance built specifically around the realities of shift work.

Meet Daniel Carter

I spent close to a decade of my life on the night shift — clocking in when most people were winding down, and trying to fall asleep while the rest of the world was having lunch. I worked my way through logistics and warehouse operations, cycling through overnight shifts, rotating schedules, and everything in between.

Somewhere around year three, I realized nobody was writing content for people like me. Every sleep article assumed I went to bed at 10pm. Every “healthy eating” guide assumed I ate breakfast in the morning, not at 7pm before a shift. I ended up piecing together what worked through years of trial, error, late-night research, and conversations with coworkers who were figuring out the exact same thing.

NightShiftWell is the site I wish existed when I started. It’s built for nurses, warehouse crews, drivers, first responders, and anyone else whose “day” doesn’t look like everyone else’s.

What I bring to this site:

  • 8–12 years of direct night and rotating shift experience in logistics and warehouse operations
  • Countless hours spent testing sleep setups, meal timing, and alertness strategies on myself, out of necessity, not theory
  • A genuine, ongoing effort to research the science behind what I write, rather than just repeating what worked for me personally

What I don’t claim to be: I’m not a doctor, nurse, or licensed health professional, and I don’t pretend to be. When an article touches on anything medical — sleep disorders, mental health, nutrition science — it’s reviewed by a qualified professional before it goes live. You’ll see exactly who reviewed it and when, right on the article.

Our Medical Review Panel: [Currently being finalized — see note below] NightShiftWell is in the process of bringing on a licensed medical reviewer (RN, registered dietitian, or physician) to review health-related content before publication. Until a named reviewer is credited on a specific article, please treat that content as educational and sourced from cited research, not as clinically reviewed advice. We’ll update this page and relevant articles as soon as our reviewer is confirmed.
